Overview

Housing Visions purchases, develops and consults on projects, substantially rehabilitates or newly constructs homes, and performs property management functions. Specializing in Low Income Housing Tax Credits, we have successfully rehabilitated a number of buildings including some eligible for historic registry, and has received NYS Preservation awards. Housing Visions serves low- to moderate-income households including special populations such as persons with disabilities. Over 70% of capital funding comes from private sources with the operating funding primarily received through development.

This is a full time (Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00pm) exempt, benefits eligible position with a hybrid office/remote schedule. Occasional night/weekend and attendance at industry meetings and events during non-business hours. Travel required to various municipalities, project partner organizations, regulatory agencies and Housing Visions construction sites and properties, which may be out of state.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Vice-President of Finance, Controller responsibilities include oversight of financial performance of main entities and partnerships. Oversee preparation of financial statements, project cash flow analysis and projections, forecasting and reporting, insurances, and payroll and benefits processing. Interaction with all teams within the company to ensure financial needs are supported. Ensure positive credit and banking relationships and supervise independent audits and preparation of annual financial statements and tax returns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and 5 years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Prior experience working with non-profit, real estate development, property management and/or construction companies preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with no restrictions required. Motor vehicle record must be acceptable to company selected insurance carrier.

SUPERVISORY FUNCTION:

This position supervises Accounting Manager, Accountants and A/P Supervisor and Financial Statement Analyst.
