    Under the direction and guidance of the VP of Business Development, the Director of Community Relations will provide strategic leadership while executing a multifaceted approach to increasing the visibility and revenues of Housing Visions. The Director will develop and implement a coordinated and comprehensive marketing, public relations and communications strategy that positions Housing Visions as a valued community partner; plan and organize fundraising events to support the organizations overall mission, strategic plan and provide for continued organizational growth; Manage grant writing and ensure oversight of grant compliance. The Director will work closely with executive and senior management, as well as the board of directors, investors, state agencies, media, and the general public.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    Marketing

    • Develop marketing and communication strategies, plans and materials for the Housing Visions brand to promote business development for neighborhood revitalization.
    • Market and communicate Housing Visions services and news.
    • Update and maintain website and social media content for Housing Visions to ensure up to date and accurate information is available timely.
    • In conjunction with development team, develop specific materials and handouts for presentation and distribution including: project summaries, presentations, press releases, and media advisories, and other materials relating to project events as requested. Assist in preparing presentations to potential customers, neighborhood groups, municipalities, investors, state agencies, media, and or community members at public meetings.
    • In conjunction with property management team, develop specific materials and handouts for presentation and distribution to applicants, residents, social service agencies, and the general public at-large. Materials may include: project brochures, floor plans, meeting notices, etc.
    • Lead on securing commercial tenants for mixed-used spaces within residential projects, including marketing, screening, and lease signings.
    • Booth marketing (Setting up at events and locations you find for us).
    • Ensure news such as project awards, closings, events, etc. are communicated to employees, board members, development contact list, contractors/vendors and the public-at-large in a timely manner through a variety of sources including email, website, social media and news media outlets. 
    • Develop annual budget for marketing, outreach and fundraising expenses, inclusive of travel costs, event expenses, conferences and trainings. Conduct and present cost benefit analysis of marketing and outreach efforts and funding/grant opportunities when requested.
    • Create and maintain Housing Visions branding guidelines and accurately promote the mission.
    • Coordinate with outside vendors all print material designs and production including marketing materials, brochures, banners, invitations, apparel, etc.

     

    Outreach and Community

    • Develop, maintain, and update media database. Ensure news and information is disseminated in a timely manner to a contact list which includes public officials, current and former project partners, funders, vendors, media, etc.
    • In current and proposed neighborhoods, cultivate community engagement and maintain positive professional relationships with customers, potential donors, vendors and community members including relationships with media outlets in order to ensure business development and growth.
    • Plan, organize and provide oversight for all company events (Ground Breakings & Ribbon Cuttings, fundraising, annual giving, etc.). Draft and circulate media advisories, press releases, and other media requests. Working with assistance from development team, coordinate and publicize event logistics, agendas, content for speakers. Coordinate with all venues, vendors, distributors and suppliers to ensure proper delivery and set up at all events.  Maintain accurate data bases on all event attendance and fundraising sources.
    • Work collaboratively and seamlessly with Housing Visions staff and other sources to identify new sources of fundraising and giving opportunities.
    • Organize outreach meetings, events, and research opportunities to make our organization's presence known.
    • Consult and partner with area businesses and other organizations to enlist community cooperation and collaboration as needed for fundraising and development efforts, as well as increase awareness about the need for affordable and accessible housing.
    • When directed, solicit donors for event underwriting or project underwriting. 
    • As requested, inform and educate key stakeholders, elected officials, neighborhood groups or the public during the development/construction process to promote and enhance positive funding application award results. 
    • Work in conjunction with administrative and accounting staff to ensure accuracy on fundraising activity.

     

    Grant Writing

    • Research, develop, write and produce grant / funding application narratives, letters, proposals and other documents required.
    • Ensure compliance on all grants (state and federal regulations).
    • Ensure that all submissions and correspondences with foundation and corporate staff is completed on time.
    • Maintain accurate and updated electronic files of donors and prospects including copies of correspondence, proposals, reports, and notes on significant phone conversations or donor visits.

    Qualifications

    KKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to cultivate and maintain positive professional, collaborative relationships with all internal teams and external partners (public officials, architects, funders, other neighborhood stakeholders, vendors, human service agencies). 
    • Ability to develop and produce high quality and detailed budgets and proposals.
    • Ability to research and analyze data in order to weigh and recommend the best possible options.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to give public presentations to a wide variety of audiences.  
    • Excellent time management and project skills. Ability to manage projects with multiple priorities, tasks and assignments.
    • Strong organization skills in managing complex tasks with autonomy.
    • Marketing skills with emphasis on communications, grant writing, website, social media marketing and event planning.
    • Knowledge of WordPress, website content development and basic graphic design required.
    • Knowledge in social media utilization required.
    • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft software products including Excel, Word, Access, Project and Outlook.
    • Knowledge of Federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations related to housing and redevelopment agencies and programs desired.
    • General real estate development and or construction knowledge preferred.

     

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CREDENTIALS AND LICENSES:

    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, urban planning, economics, business, public administration, political science or related field preferred, or a minimum of 3 years of professional, experience in marketing, development, planning, real estate development, community development or related field.
    • Experience with construction, affordable housing, or not-for-profit related industry preferred.  
    • Experience networking to achieve business leads and project support desired. 
    • Valid driver’s license with no major restrictions required.
