    Housing Visions Construction is seeking a Superintendent to manage and direct the day-to-day activities of construction project in Syracuse, New York. This is a full time, benefit eligible position with a Monday through Friday schedule. 


    The Superintendent coordinates, manages and directs the day-to-day activities of assigned construction project. Ensures the construction project is being completed in a cost effective, safe and timely manner while adhering to established quality standards. Oversees field crew, and coordinates and supervises work of subcontractors and vendors. Responsible for daily inspections and safe and quality workmanship of crew and subcontractors at the job site. Assists with bidding, procurement and purchasing. Maintains records of daily construction operations, including daily logs, delivery/receiving and timesheets. Communicates in a positive and professional manner, interacts with design/development professionals, funding source representatives and government officials.  


    • Under the oversight of the Project Manager, meet construction project objectives and deadlines.
    • Ensure plans, specifications and project manual are reviewed thoroughly prior to project commencement; communicate human resource needs including hiring at the onset and throughout the construction project.
    • Direct assigned employees in the completion of assigned tasks at the project job site; train and coach employees in construction methods, operations of equipment, safety procedures and company policies.
    • Oversee vendors and subcontractors in all trades and applicable scopes; ensure all quality and safety standards are adhered to.
    • Continually monitor, examine and inspect all work activities and equipment on job site to ensure safety, quality and productivity of both company employees and contractors.
    • Ensure conformance to project plans and specifications.
    • Communicate employee and vendor/contractor quality, safety and/or performance issues and concerns to Project Manager in a timely manner.
    • Assist with resolving issues with suppliers, architects, engineers, raters, contractors, inspectors and corporate office functions.
    • Initiate RFI process, shop drawings, submittals, change orders, warranty binder and/or as-builts with Project Manager.
    • Recommend solutions to project overruns (and other issues) in order to meet budgeted costs including profit and overhead; solutions should give consideration to timeline and costs.
    • Provide routine status updates and supporting information on schedule and costs to ensure accurate pay applications, percent completion reports and other corporate monitoring. 
    • Maintain daily job site logs as well as records of safety orientations and toolbox talks/trainings.
    • Review and approve vendor/contractor time / hours and job classifications for accuracy.
    • Receive product and materials, and provide packing slips to corporate timely.
    • Represent Housing Visions to others on the job site in a professional manner.

    • Strong knowledge of scheduling all aspects of a construction project to ensure timely delivery required.
    • Ability to read and interpret drawings, building plans and specifications.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft software products including Excel, Word, Project and Outlook preferred.
    • Knowledge of and ability to understand and apply federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations related to construction and safe work practices.
    • Completion of OSHA 30 course work.
    • Must be able to meet the requirements of a Drug Free Workplace which includes but is not limited to negative results on pre-employment, post- accident/incident, random and reasonable suspicion testing.


    • Bachelor's Degree in construction management preferred; H.S. diploma or equivalent required.
    • Minimum of 10 years in construction and at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role required. 
    • Building Performance Institute, Green Building & LEED credentials desired.
    • Valid driver’s license with no major restrictions required. Motor vehicle record must be acceptable to company selected insurance carrier.
