    Full Time benefit eligble position. Hours are 6:30pm-3:00am on a roatating schedule.   The Veteran Support Worker will serve residents of VanKeuren Square which provides a full range of services to homeless Veterans and Veterans at risk of being homeless. VanKeuren Square is a 50 individual one- and two-bedroom fully-furnished apartments and a variety of common gathering areas, offering the residents a supportive environment that both respects individual privacy while simultaneously encouraging community integration and socialization.

     

    VanKeuren Square was designed to provide housing and supportive services in one building to enable the Veterans to retain their housing and move toward recovery. Two case managers and a social worker on-site help Veterans with substance abuse problems, find employment, get health care and deal with other life challenges. The Support Worker will provide oversight during evenings and alternating weekends.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist with the routine operation and general supervision of the VanKeuren Square property during night and weekend hours.
    • Serve as liaison with Housing Visions employees and other internal and external service providers.
    • Completes daily log by recording observations, information, and occurrences.
    • Act as professional role model for staff and residents.
    • Assist with maintaining company standards for property security.
    • Participate in required staff meetings and trainings.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be required.
    • Follow all the policies and procedures of Housing Visions and adhere to Housing Visions values of Quality, Responsibility, Integrity and Compassion.

    Qualifications

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with other employees as well as our residents.
    • Ability to maintain composure and use sound judgement when managing conflicts.
    • Ability to utilize electronic database system. Proficiency in MS Outlook and MS Office.
    • Customer service skills.
    • Oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to report to work on time and perform the duties of the job for an entire workday and work overtime if required.
    • Ability to receive oral and/or written instructions from supervisor(s).

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CREDENTIALS AND LICENSES:

    • HS Diploma/GED required; Associate's degree preferred and up to three years of experience in a human service functions preferably with vulnerable populations or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Valid driver’s license with no major restrictions and acceptable to Housing Visions insurance carrier required.
    • Must be able to meet the requirements of a Drug Free Workplace which includes reasonable suspicion testing.
    • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States of America.
